are we looking for you?

We’re recruiting full and part time Front of House, Back of House, Baristas, Bartenders and Game Gurus ready for our launch in May 2019. Apply using the form at the bottom of this page.

You will need to have:

  • Awesome customer service skills and be passionate about giving each customer an exciting and memorable experience.
  • Great interpersonal skills and ability to build good relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and be supportive of your colleagues by being flexible and working together.
  • The ability to work a busy environment, multi-task and stay calm under pressure.
  • Great listening skills and ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Energy, enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
  • The ability to work under own initiative and take responsibility for your duties.

We’re a small and new business and are keen to have a versatile team. We want some people to do a few different roles, rather than just one. On the application form you’ll have the option to tick as many positions as you would like.

Here’s a breakdown of the roles…

front of house

You’ll be greeting and seating customers, explaining how the cafe works, taking orders, serving food and drinks, clearing tables and taking payments.

You’ll spend a lot of time with our customers so you’ll need to be a real people person.

kitchen assistant

You’ll be preparing and serving a menu of sandwiches, salads, sides and nibbles. You’ll be doing all your own prep and clearing and cleaning.

Previous relevant experience and a good understanding of Food Safety & Hygiene is desirable, but not essential.

The cafe will have an open kitchen so you’ll need to be confident working front of house and comfortable chatting to customers.

Of course you’ll be making coffee… you’ll also be setting up for the day, serving customers, taking payments and preparing other drinks.

You’ll need to be an experienced Barista who’s worked in a cafe/coffee shop environment. Any advanced barista training, speciality training or latte art skills are desirable but not essential.

Working evenings only, our bartenders will be pouring pints, making cocktails and serving up all the other drinks and bar snacks. You’ll be serving customers, taking payments and cleaning down the bar at the end of the night.

You’ll need to have experience working behind a bar. You must be 18 or over for this role.

game guru

Our Game Gurus will be helping our customers explore the games library, making tailored games recommendations and teaching games. You’ll also be helping customers in our retail section.

As a Game Guru you will be expected to carry out Front of House duties too – greeting and seating customers, explaining how the cafe works, taking orders, serving food and drinks, clearing tables and taking payments.

An interest in board games is essential.

Working for Twist you will receive the usual Basic Pay and holiday pay, flexible hours and free staff meals. We want to be somewhere you love to work and build a strong team, so we’re already planning ways to reward our team. We want you to be able to enjoy Twist on your days off too so we’re currently fine tuning the details of the staff discount system.

We’re planning to close applications at 5pm on Sunday 21 April (Easter Sunday), but we may stop accepting applications as early as 5pm on Wednesday 10 April if our refurbishment is running ahead of schedule. If you’re interested we recommend applying sooner rather than later.

Applicants need to be 16 or over by 29 April.
